Jacob's First "Bike" Ride

I've known the day was coming for quite some time. The day my mom finally gave in and let my dad get a motorcycle. I have heard this man talk about wanting a bike for as long as I can remember. Mom and I pretty much share the same point of view. I trust Dad. I don't trust the other idiots on the road. In all honesty, it might not scare me as bad now that he has it. Maybe. But no. My husband still cannot get one. :-) Sorry, Wayne! I can't tell Dad no, but I can you! :-) You'll just have to enjoy Dad's some more while we are at his house. Maybe after you ask for 20+ years I'll give in, but I doubt it. We'll stick to campers and boats for our toys.

Anyway, before any of you freak out about the title, it's probably not what you are thinking. Literally my dad drove at walking speed (never getting out of first gear), in the yard, and Jacob had a helmet on! :) This kid loved it! Mommy was a little nervous, but I know his Pappy would never let anything happen to him. In fact, Jacob cried and cried when we finally made him get off!

Before preacher biker dude rode the little man, they had to wait on mommy to get out there, so what better to do than play a little football?

And maybe we'll let Daddy take it for a quick ride.

Then, it was finally time.

And this is one thing I thought I would never see.

Real quick, funny story. After everyone was done, Wayne wanted to go on a little longer ride. (He's still pretty new at this.) So, Dad told him where to go to where he wouldn't have to cross traffic and such. After he was gone for about 5 minutes (Dad and I were anxiously looking for him), Dad's phone rings. He looks down with the most confused, concerned look on his face, and my heart dropped as he said, "It's Wayne???" Turns out, he ran out of gas! I've never been so relieved before in my life! Thankfully it has a reserve and he made it home safely. I might just have a panic attack over this new "toy" before it's all over with!

Flustered

Dear UAB,

First and foremost, I am thankful for you. So many people these days are looking for work, and you have given my husband countless opportunities. So for that, thank you. As far as everything else goes, I have a bone to pick with you. We seem to be in competition these days.

1

Nearly 60 hour work weeks plus being on call two weekends in a row has taken this precious man away from us. In reality, if given the choice, there is no competition. Jacob and I win every time. We all do have to eat though, so Wayne keeps trucking on and doing what is asked of him. This man has a work ethic like none I have ever seen. He will do what is asked plus some. I know you know that. I must admit, I am very proud to call him mine.

Lots of tears have been shed by a sweet two year old boy lately. Begging Daddy "no work" and going into hysterics at the sight of his daddy's uniform (which, as you can imagine, breaks his daddy's heart). He loves his daddy. As do I. I think it's our turn, and I'm thankful for the next two weeks that he is off on Friday and works no overtime. That is the best Christmas gift of the year! I am sure the hospital will survive without him. :)

Thankful for the next two weeks (plus two well deserved weeks off in January for the birth of our son),
Mommy and Jacob

Just FYI: this picture was taken last year while watching the National Championship game. I never said anything about the UA/AU game this year, but a friend put this on facebook after the game and I found it entirely too funny not to share:
"The best man doesn't always win. Look who's in the White house." :)
As far as this year's National Championship goes, we will be pulling for the boys from our home state. Even though their fans did right the opposite last year.

Hope everyone has a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

When Life Happens...

I don't have time to blog. I mean, we only slightly have a lot going on right now! ;) Christmas this month, and baby next month. Let me tell you, there is nothing like procrastination either. It has proven to be the best motivation for me lately. No, baby Grant's nursery is still not done. Wayne and I were talking, and he was assuring me that everything was just fine and we had plenty of time. That's when I reminded him that at this exact same time with Jacob's pregnancy I had a bag packed for the hospital. You don't even want to know what all my to do list entails for the next 5 weeks. I will tell you it includes finishing the nursery, washing his clothes, and cleaning up ALL the baby stuff since it's been in the garage (covered, but still) for the last year. :) Did I mention we aren't completely finished Christmas shopping either. I promise I normally have it way more together than this. I will be done Christmas shopping by December next year.

Let's back up to the weekend after Thanksgiving... Every year we go to Lowe's to get our tree. We were actually going to go to a farm this year, but time didn't allow. Maybe next year. I don't think lil man cared. He had just as much fun.

When we got home that night, I slipped and did the SPLITS 8 months pregnant! Yes it's possible. No I don't recommend trying it. Needless to say, I was hurting a little too bad to decorate that night, so Wayne put the lights on and the next night we added everything else.

We have also visited Santa. We always go to Bass Pro. Nana, Pappy and Bubba were with us this year. All of the "boys" loved the race track they had out. Santa might be bringing Jacob one similar. ;)

Poor thing. This is just mean.

He did give him a high five though. That's huge improvement from last year. Like everything else, maybe next year...

Can I tell you something I am super excited about? We got family stockings this year. I wanted these last year, but I knew we would have at least one more kiddo (and I knew it would be fairly soon) so I decided to wait. I love them. And yes, they are hanging on our piano. We have considered adding a fireplace to our living room, but haven't quite made our minds up on that one yet.

We also went to Hueytown's Christmas parade. It was FREEZING, but oh so much fun! I'll let these pics speak for themselves.

Now, I want to brag on my husband for a REAL QUICK minute. He called me over a week ago and said, "I have an early Christmas surprise for you, you know I'm not good at keeping secrets from you so please don't ask. It's next Saturday, and you need to dress up." You also must understand that he has never waited until the actual time to tell me about something or give me a gift. If we make it to Christmas this year, I will be most surprised. He's just always so excited about giving to me. :) He did manage to wait until Saturday, and boy was it something! In fact, it was incredible!! I have wanted to see TSO for 3 years now, and he had us tickets for this past Saturday night. Here we are right after I found out where we were going...

And here is a little of what we saw...

I'm blessed beyond words for so many reasons.

And last but not least (and totally unrelated to this random post), our little man has an imaginary friend. He drug both of these chairs into the kitchen, sat behind Wayne (who was washing dishes), patted the chair and whispered, "Watch Daddy." Boy, are we having another baby right on time or what?!!! :) Honestly, I think it's adorable. But I'm his mama, and I think everything (well, most everything) he does is adorable!

FREE Christmas Cards???!! Yes Please!

So, in case you haven't read this on every one's blog so far, Shutterfly is offering 50 free Christmas cards to bloggers just for blogging about it! Honestly, I was going to design my own Christmas cards this year, but I would still have to pay for the prints. Now that Shutterfly is offering this, I can't pass it up! I'm so excited about it (and the hubs is super excited about it since we will be sending birth announcements out in the coming weeks)! I must say, they have some really cute designs.

You can view many of their Christmas cards here. You will see what I mean by so many to choose from! I think this one is adorable, but I also like this one! I love damask. I know for sure I will use a black and white picture of lil man, and I wanted to use a vertical one. I'm sure I will find the right card. ;-)

If your parents or grandparents are like ours, you can also look at these adorable calenders that they would surely love!

I'm hoping maybe I can find another promo offer for baby announcements! That might be too good to be true, but you never know until you try!

(By the way, do you know how hard it was for me to come up with 200+ words for this post?!)

Merry Christmas!

Right after mom took our maternity pictures, I pulled out my camera to take a few of little man. We needed a Christmas card picture. :) You should know 3 things...(1) it was getting too dark for pictures, (2) he had not had a nap !!!!!, (3) as I said, we just finished maternity pics, so he was sick of pictures. I knew if I got a few to choose from I would be ok. I think I did get a few. It's funny, I can ALWAYS get more pictures for other people's kids than I can my own. And redoing them was not an option. Have I mentioned I'm almost in the ninth month? ;)

Family Of 3, Soon To Be 4

My mom took some maternity photos for us last weekend, and there are some family members and friends that are going to bust if I don't post them! To be honest, I think maternity pics are adorable...for other people. In fact, this is what I thought of doing them. ;-)

5

Just kidding. Wayne just thinks that picture is hilarious for some reason!

I'm not one to want to share these, although I did want some for the nursery (which hopefully will be mostly done this weekend). So, be kind. And if big bellies freak you out, you might want to stop reading here. And thanks mom for taking these! I know I will cherish them in years to come. I'm just at a point right now where I'm ready to be skinny again...7 more weeks...7 more weeks... Without any farther ado...
