One thing I have learned in this short time that I have had as a mother is that boys can be WILD! Seriously. We wouldn't have it any other way though. I can't imagine having to play with dolls instead of balls (although I am fully aware that that might be the case one day!) There are days though, that I wish he wasn't quite so wild. Days such as this.
Many have asked about what happened because they have seen his poor head in pictures, or because they have seen his poor head in person. So, here goes.
Jacob has a fascination with drawers. Really anything that he can put stuff in. He is constantly getting "in trouble" about playing in the drawers of the night stand in our spare bed room. I try to keep that door shut, but this day he got by me. It was as though all of this was happening in slow motion. I saw it happening and couldn't. get. there. fast. enough! I hate that feeling! He managed to tump over an oak night stand on top of him. I just knew he had a broke leg from the way he was under it. So, as I am panicking (I was the only one here) checking out his leg, I look at his face and I see blood everywhere!! It took everything I had in me to act the part of the calm mother when inside I was a nervous wreck! I get him to the bathroom and grab the first towel I see. As I am working trying to get the blood off and then get it to stop bleeding, I realize that the cut is only about a half an inch wide. Who knew a small head cut would bleed THAT much!? It was gaping open a little bit so I called the nurse. Our doctor's office was closed so she suggested if I thought it necessary to head to the ER. My mother in law (who was already on her way) showed up at this point, and we came up with the brilliant plan to call Lorrie Blackwell (our pastor's wife who is a nurse). She agreed to look at it. So, Wayne shows up, we go to her house, and she said if it were her she would steri strip it. So, that's what you see now! I do believe this was the scariest moment of my life! Thank the Lord, he was ok and it was nothing serious!!
Now, on to a totally different subject....EASTER! We went to see my parents for Easter this year. The night before, I had big plans for us to color eggs with little man, and he was out! We couldn't keep him awake to do it. So, I was up late getting his eggs ready for the next day. :)
Easter morning, the Easter bunny came! I think he was a little excited!
Then, we all headed out to go to church to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord! It was a beautiful service, and as always I thoroughly enjoyed hearing my dad give the message. I also really enojoyed seeing my handsome hubby in suit! Our church is so casual, I only see him this dressed up when we go to Dad's for Easter or if we go to a wedding!
After lunch, Dad and Wayne hid the eggs for little man to hunt. He didn't quite get it at first, but it didn't take long for him to catch on.
And as always, he loves Nana's lemon water. He would drink gallons of water from a glass, but he wouldn't take a sip out of his sippy cup!
My grandmother, Mama Rena, came for the weekend too and it was so nice spending time with her! I can't wait to do it again! (The only pic I have of her she has her tongue sticking out, and I don't believe she would want that one for all to see!)
In other news....THESE LOVE BIRDS ARE ENGAGED!!!
Yep, my baby sister is tying the knot on November 20, 2010. We are all so excited for them. Neil is such a nice guy. He won my heart over when he watched the dreaded Yo Gabba Gabba! with my precious angel! ;) We are going to look at wedding dresses this weekend, and I assure you tears will be shed! It's so unreal.
Speaking of dress hunting. I normally wouldn't throw this out there, but maybe if I do I will stick to it. I started a dreaded diet this week. So far, so good. I am determined not to be the fat bridesmaid! The last two weddings I was in were within 2 months of giving birth, and I'm praying by November I will look lots better than that! :) So, wish me luck!
